Intercultural competence and inclusion are vital for business, customer encounters and well-being at work in any modern organization. Both personnel and customers can come from very different cultural backgrounds, which is why organizations that purposefully develop their intercultural competence can have an advantage in attaining workforce, are able to foster well-being at work, reach new customer groups and utilize the potential of their personnel better than others. The impact of cultural competence has been validated by research; it offers companies a clear competitive advantage (Forbes 2015). In industries with labor shortages, organizations that develop their cultural competence are able to stand out as an employer and thus attract and engage more employees.

MOK offers training and consultation services at the organizational and individual level. Our training programs include sessions on cultural diversity and inclusion. We offer internationalization support for organizations: staff training and consultation of team leadership and onboarding processes to ensure that the organization is prepared for internationalization or internal internationalization (e.g. to welcome experts and university students already residing in Finland). Our team has 10 years of cultural competence and diversity management training experience. We use the internationally validated cultural competence assessment tool, the IDI. It can be used to measure the level and development of cultural competence of different organizations and individuals.

As a non-profit organization, all our proceeds are directed to sports and leisure activities of children and youth at Helsinki YMCA.
