Music college
Founded in 1966, YMCA Helsinki Music College offers diverse opportunities for children, young people and adults to enjoy music. At YMCA Helsinki Music College you can study playing, singing, musical theory and composition either on in Music College or in our Open Studies. Instrumental teaching is mainly given in Vuorikatu.
When applying for the Music College, a student may be no more than 29 years old. The criteria for student selection include the student’s musical talent and learning ability, which should allow for at least the completion of basic studies in music. On the college line, theoretical studies and proficiency performances are part of the curriculum.

Tuition and fees
Tuition in the Music College is determined by the length of the lesson and by the department as follows:
Major subject 45 min, €545, contains 17 weekly hours in the fall, 18 weekly hours in the spring
Minor subject 30 min, €400, contains 14 weekly lessons
Minor subject 45min, €500, contains 14 weekly lessons
Open Studies:
45 min, €655, contains 14 weekly lessons
30 min, €470, contains 14 weekly lessons
A theory major, group teaching, €130, includes 14 (45-minute) weekly lessons.
Term fees for instrument teaching include group teaching of musical theory for a single subject.
Band club, €175/ 12 times
Ukulele group, €175/ 12 times
Pop singing groups, €390 children and youth; €430 adults (14 lessons per semester)
Children's flamenco, 30min/€150; 45min/€175 (12 lessons per semester)
Spanish-language musical play school Cantando con Corocó, €150/12 times
Russian-language musical play school, 30min/€150 and 40min/€160 (12 lessons per semester)

Registration can be cancelled after the first time, after which it is binding. No refunds will be made for classes cancelled mid-semester. Registration is generally for the entire academic year, but a student place for the spring semester can be cancelled by emailing musiikkiopisto@hnmky.fi by 18.12.2025.
At the beginning of the calendar year, in addition to the term fee, we will charge an annual membership fee according to our rules, €50 pupil.
SUBSTITUTION OF LESSONS IN CASES OF ILLNESS:
- Student absences are not compensated.
- The teacher is responsible for compensating the student for their own sick absences.
